A note from Emily.

If you or someone you know has ever struggled with mental health, relationship with food, body image or suffered with an eating disorder then this is your book of hope, healing and honesty. Stardust is a true account of life, love, laughter and living with an eating disorder and mental health illness. I share with you the truth behind the illness that nearly took my life at the age of 21. Follow my story from the very beginning and find the key to happiness, love and freedom.

I began Stardust as a Wordpress blog in order to get all the thoughts and feelings out that I was going through during recovery. It soon became a platform for people to share their own experiences and connect. It was read in over 30 different countries and had over 6000 views before I took it offline, enabling me to go to schools and universities to talk to students about mental health and eating disorders.

A lot of people can relate to life with a mental health illness or an eating disorder and my hope is that they can read the words that I write and find hope and guidance to help them to become the person that they want to be and find true, inspired freedom.

Others have loved ones that are going through similar experiences that I did but cannot understand the thoughts and feelings that people that are suffering with. One of the most frustrating parts of having a family member suffer with an eating disorder or mental illness is the fact that they don’t know what is going through their loved ones’ mind.

This is what I want to help to uncover, so that those that know someone with a mental health or eating disorder can better understand in order to help.

There is a huge sense of “lets not talk about this” when it comes to mental health. It has got better in the past few years but it is still a very taboo subject that people are afraid to talk about because they fear the way that others may react. I believe that there is a need and a purpose that those who have gone through experiences similar to mine, that I need to share and to speak out so that there is a voice that speaks for those that cannot find the words to speak for themselves.
